Il sensore di movimento a infrarossi HC-SR501 è un sensore P.I.R. (Passive Infra Red) che permette di rilevare, il calore e il movimento. Funziona soltanto quando una persona si muove davanti a esso e una volta ferma smette di rilevarla. Trova applicazione in vari tipi di apparecchiature elettriche a rilevazione automatica, in particolare in prodotti di controllo automatici alimentati a batteria.
Il segnale in uscita, la distanza di rilevamente e il tempo di ritardo possono essere selezionati tramite jumpers e trimmer.
